Beatles viewed Australia as a ‘great place to tour’

‘When We Was Fab’ author Greg Armstrong says the Beatles viewed the Australasia tour of 1964 as an “absolute knockout.”

The band were greeted with the largest crowds of their world tour when they landed down under 60 years ago, with Beatlemania erupting on to the streets of Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide and Brisbane.

“They were absolutely knocked out at the time,” Mr Armstrong told Sky News Australia.

“They certainly looked at Australia as a great place to tour.”
